Marina Bay Sands Hotel Singapore
I just returned from another Singapore trip and like many people I always enjoy the nice weather, the relaxing atmosphere, shopping, a visit to China Town ... I unfortunately did not have much time this trip to do any sightseeing but I was lucky enough on my previous trips to have some time left to explore Singapore a bit further. Here is my list of top 5 things to do in Singapore when you have a bit more time.
Walking Bridge on Sentosa
1. Sentosa
Sentosa is a huge playground on an island offering incredible beautiful beaches, the Southernmost point of Asia, exciting attractions like the CineBlast virtual roller coaster, nature walks, a beautiful Underwater World aquarium, a Dolphin Lagoon .... One of the highlights of a visit to Sentosa is the Tiger Sky Tower offering panoramic views over Sentosa, Singapore's Southern Islands, Malaysia and Indonesia.
No chance at all to get bored on Sentosa, there is something for everyone which makes this an incredible day trip while in Singapore. A unique way to get to Sentosa is by taking the cable car at HarbourFront Tower Two.

Marina Bay Sands Hotel Infinity Pool
2. Marina Bay Sands Hotel
The Marina Bay Sands Hotel is an attraction on its own. This spectacular 5 star hotel featuring the world's largest atrium casino, opened officially in June 2010 followed by a grand opening in February 2011. Besides the casino the hotel offers a huge shopping mall, an ice skate rink, several restaurants and bars, a theatre, a museum, an amazing Skypark including an infinity pool, a daily light show... You can easily spend a full day in this hotel looking around, shopping, relaxing at the pool or enjoying the panoramic views from the Skypark.
From the Level 33 craft brewery on top of the MBFC building you can enjoy the best view over the Marina Bay, the Singapore Flyer and the Marina Bay Sands Hotel (see first photo of this post).
Pulau Ubin Singapore
3. Pulau Ubin
Pulau Ubin is after Sentosa, the second largest off shore island of Singapore. The only way to get to Pulau Ubin is by taking a bumboat at Changi Point Ferry Terminal. The bumboat operates daily from about 6 am till 8 pm, the boat will only embark once there are 12 passengers.
I had a great day on Pulau Ubin, I rented a bicycle and cycled around the island enjoying the nature including some interesting mangroves. There are nearly no houses nor cars on this island which makes it the perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle for a day and to enjoy the beautiful nature.
Singapore Zoo
4. Singapore Zoo
Singapore Zoo, located in a beautiful rainforest setting, is daily opened from 8:30 am till 6 pm. You can also take a Night Safari visiting the nocturnal animals or a River Safari where you can view fish and other animals living around several of the world's greatest rivers: from the Mississippi to the Ganges to the Amazon...
The most unique experience is without any doubt that you can have breakfast with a family of orangutans. Pretty special, right?
Singapore Botanic Gardens
5. Botanic Garden
Singapore Botanic Gardens are open daily from 5 am till midnight. It is a great place to do some early morning jogging or to wander through these beautiful gardens. Once you're done don't forget to visit the stunning National Orchid Garden - opened daily from 8.30 am till 7 pm - containing more than 1000 Orchid species. The entrance to the Singapore Botanic Gardens is free but there is a SGD 5 admission fee for the National Orchid Garden.

Fabulous! Singapore definitely sounds like it's worth a visit! I've only had a 1h stopover in the airport. Wasn't even enough time to visit the butterfly gardens in the airport which my sister tells me are amazing!
ReplyDeleteMental note made: Singapore is added to "the list"! ;o)
Hi Cris, Singapore is a really nice stop for a couple of days. A shame you did not have enough time during your stopover cause indeed even the airport is worth a visit.
DeleteWell at least I was able to buy some really comfortable light-weight pants that were fabulous for the very hot Alicante summers! ;o)
DeleteI like Singapore. I have been there a couple of years back. What a clean country! Amazing tourist spots and lovely people. Is Philippines anytime soon, Freya? :) See you!
ReplyDeleteYou are right it is incredible clean and ordered with great places to visit and great people. I would love to go to the Philippines one day but it will unfortunately not be possible this year but it is for sure on my list.

ReplyDeleteSingapore - Interesting place that mixes old and new. Definitely on the list.
ReplyDeleteit indeed is, thanks for stopping by :-)
DeleteI've always had a desire to visit Singapore and if I told my 9 year old that she could have breakfast with a family of orangutans (her favourite animal) at the Singapore Zoo then I think it would catapult to the top of our list! :)
ReplyDeletehaha indeed it is quite a unique experience having breakfast with orangutans and Singapore is great. Thanks for stopping by :)
DeleteI am intrigued by Singapore ever since I saw Anthony Bourdain explore its food and that amazing hotel that looks like an airplane with the infinity pool - I think that's what you suggested above, the Marina Bay Sands Hotel?
ReplyDeleteBut the island visits sound so lovely, so many nature centred activities.
Murissa
Hi Murissa, yes it i indeed the Marina Bay Sands Hotel or the MBS as they say over there. The islands are indeed worth a visit, gives a nice change.
DeleteI've past through Singapore a few times going to and from Oz but have only ever stayed at Changi, and each time we go we promise ourselves a few days actually in the city. I think next time I will spend a few days... just to go swimming in that infinity pool!
ReplyDeletenext time you should definitely try to stay for a couple of days :-)
DeleteGlad you had fun. I absolutely loved Singapore. I was only there for about 4 days, so I didn't get the chance to do most of what you did but I did get the chance to eat a lot delicious food at little India. I ate and ate and ate lol
ReplyDeletehaha yes the food is great, it's a great place
DeleteCrazy love for Sentosa but have not been to Pulau Ubin yet and it looks nice. Would love to cycle around the island too! I have been to Singapore a lot of times and yet all I seem to do is hang around the China town and eat! oops :P
ReplyDeleteHi Aggy, Pulau Ubin is totally the opposite of Sentosa although they are both islands they have nothing else in common. Sentosa is fun and Pulau Ubin is pure nature. haha yes China town and especially the food is great.
DeleteGreat recommendations! We only had a few days when we went last time but we are going back late this year so we can explore a little more!
ReplyDeleteIve bookmarked this post to refer back to :)
Singapore is very beautiful, I would love to go back for another week or so.
